Last Minute Gathering at Red Rock Canyon
April 14-17, 2005
This get together was a small one. We were there along with Ed Manchego from Santa Paula. It was beautiful in the Mojave Desert. We went on Thursday evening and on Friday morning there was a bald eagle perched on the highest crag of the canyon. Shortly after he left, two F-14's came zipping through the canyon about 100 feet off the floor. It just so happened that Ed was driving into the campground just as they went through...gave him a white knuckle experience! :)
We had taken the trike over with us...Carolyn's first experience in towing a trailer for any distance. She did very well, until it came time to back it into the campsite. Then Jerry took over. On Friday we went for a ride and ended up at a real greasy spoon...Carolyn ended up getting sick and we went home on Saturday morning. After we took a lot of the photos on this site. Couldn't leave without them...it was too beautiful to leave behind.
After we left, we found out that several people came by for the day. Louis Bravo from Bakersfield stayed in Ed's campsite and enjoyed the stargazing with some astronomers who were there.
So, it wasn't the typical gathering, but it was fun for those of us who were there to experience the desert in all her glory.
See ya next time...
Happy Trails,
Jerry & Carolyn
