My New "MaxiTear"
Page Six - Beginning 2/14/02

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!!!  :)
I got my truck back yesterday from the welder, Bob Hudson (he really knows his stuff and has done a lot of work on these trucks), who put a "new" Volare front end on.  He recommended this one would fit the best with my model of truck instead of the Camaro.  It went together like a charm.  He didn't have to remove any of the old frame since the front end was able to go right under the frame and be welded on.  Here's some before & after...today & tomorrow we are working on cleaning it all up and putting it back together.

2/15/02 - Here's some more after photos of the front end...that is after we tore the front end apart, cleaned, painted, rebuilt parts, added power steering, cleaned, cleaned, cleaned.

2/19/02 - Today I hunted for Brakes at the junk yard...the Safari was successful - you can tell from this pic!!!  What fun we are having.

after10.jpg (41915 bytes)  p.s. - The brakes are a swinging arm and hydraulic system from a TransAm...seems to be working ok so far.  (not sofaree! :)

3/13/02 - It seems that I am only getting pics on once a month...this last month has been concentrated on the '55 Chevy Pickup.  I've got it back on the road with power brakes, power steering (even Carolyn can drive it now!!!:), new chrome wheels to match the MaxiTear, new front end and alignment.  A lot of blood, sweat, swearing, and tears have gone into this truck...there's more to come I am sure of it.  As promised, we are also posting some interior pics of details on the MaxiTear that haven't been seen yet.  Enjoy!!!

This is a plug in heater that goes
directly into the socket up against
the wall...too cool!!!  Found it at
Orchard Supply Hardware.

I hope to get the exterior of the trailer started in the next couple of days and also get the exterior of the truck all one color of gray primer.

3/14/02 -  We were so lucky...today we started on the wiring harness.  It seems to be going together just fine...it will hopefully be done tomorrow night!!!  Beware...we'll be cruisin' soon!!!
