What a wonderful time we had. Jerry & Carolyn arrived on Wednesday afternoon to a beautiful, dry balmy day. That same day Jeff & his friend from Port Townsend, Washington arrived in his 1950's era home built tent trailer.
On Thursday several others arrived along with some clouds, but still a beautiful day. Jerry & Carolyn went fishing and caught their limits...a great trout dinner was had that night.
Then came Friday when most of the folks arrived. It rained off and on throughout the day. That evening it was very pleasant. The rain tapered off and we were able to enjoy campfires throughout the evening. Jill, Marty & Kimberly were the night owls partying till wee hours of the morning.
On Saturday morning, there was a total of 17 trailers when the photos on the left were taken. Then the rain began.....it kept on raining and by noon there were 11 trailers left...Six trailers left during the worst part of the storm. Early that afternoon the Abbeys showed up. Better late than never. Making it a total of 19 trailers and one tent attending this year's event.
Finally by mid afternoon the rain stopped. But the muddy goo was still there. That was ok, we still decided that everyone had potluck dishes and we weren't going to let the rain get the best of us. Soooo, the party began. Again, a wonderful dinner was had by all. Even though Toni took the last of the lemon meringue pie! Everyone seemed to enjoy the evening as it unfolded. Thanks to Louis' portable woodstove, we didn't even need a campfire.
Sunday brought beautiful sunshine, dry weather and a lot of smiles. Everyone hung around waiting to make sure that all of the trailers were out of the mud. Well, needless to say the Maxitear was the worst. After getting it out of the mud, Carolyn said...Jerry your airbags are leaking...it wasn't the airbags. We had a flat tire. Fortunately, our pit crew jumped in and before we could get dirty, it was changed to our spare. THANKS so much to all of you. We were very happy that it didn't happen out on the roadways.
We continued to visit throughout the morning and many of us didn't leave the camp until well into the afternoon. It was so nice, we didn't want to leave. But, alas, reality set in and we had to pull ourselves away from our friends.
So, the moral to the story is...wait out the rain, cuz the sun's going to come out bringing joy and laughter with it.
See y'all down the road.
Happy Trails,
Jerry, Carolyn & Chiquita Piper
