RIVERNOOK 2003
Kernville, California

October 30 through November 2, 2003

Once again we had a wonderful time with fellow Vintage Trailerites.  There was a total of 16 campers (2 Cardinals, 2 Daltons, a Kenskill Stand Up and a Kenskill Reproduction Teardrop, Pleasurecraft, 2 Shastas, Layton, Serro Scotty, Maxitear, Kit Companion, Silver Streak, Colt Camper, 1957 Ford Station Wagon Used as a Camper!) and 32 people.  Plus we've converted some folks who just happened in...as normal!

While looking through the photos, understand that we were having so much fun that we forgot to take pictures...also, we were able to add 6 to the Vintage Trailer Photo Directory...so make sure to check that out as well.

The Maxitear arrived with Jerry & Carolyn on Wednesday afternoon.  It was a balmy 80+ degrees.  By Sunday, it was a cool 30ish degrees in the morning.  So, we experienced the Central California fall weather (hot one day and cold the next!).

The rain came on Friday evening which slowed the partying just a bit...not too much though.  We trick or treated the campground and had a lot of fun in the process!  Thanks to Jill in her Dalton, we even got to experience a "Haunted Trailer"!  Strobe lights and all.  What a kick!

Throughout the weekend the fishing was outstanding.  Everyone that went to the river banks was successful in catching at least one fish!  There were a few of us (Jerry Schmidt & Carolyn Piper) that limited on Friday & Saturday and Marilyn Piper limited on Saturday too.  Carolyn caught the prize fish on Saturday...17.5 inches, 2 pounds.  As you can see from the photos, she was pretty excited (it was her first ever keeper - guess it was beginner's luck! :).

Food was central on everyone's mind.  The potluck was a wondrous spread of fine cuisine!  As you can see, Gage had his plate full first!  After Jerry Schmidt said grace, everyone hit the tables...there's no organization in this group, even when it comes to eating.  We were all stuffed, sitting around the campfire and low and behold what arrived...an absolutely fabulous dutch oven blackberry cobbler...YUMMY!!!

By Sunday morning we were all settled in and not wanting to leave.  But, alas, the time comes to go home.  Having seen old friends and making new ones.  We thank everyone who showed and are planning to see you all again soon.

Unfortunately, several folks were unable to make it due to the Southern California fires and inclement weather.  We thought of all and hope that next time we can all join up again soon.

Happy Trails,
Jerry & Carolyn Piper
